Monday Updates – December 17th, 2012

Good Morning, Bethesda!

Last night was truly a blessing for everyone who attended. The Christmas program was a wonderful time of worshiping our Lord primarily in song. The fellowship which followed was a great time of relaxing with brothers and sisters in Christ. And, although we were a small band of “merry men (and women)”, our caroling at the Schulze’s, I believe, was a blessing to them as it was to those of us who sang.

A special thanks to everyone who participated in the Christmas program, young and old (and I won’t name names!). Thank you to Steve and Tom for coordinating the program. Thanks to Karla for arranging our Christmas fellowship. And thank you to Dennis for leading us in caroling. It truly was a blessed evening!

January Bible Study, Sunday, January 5, 2013 at 5 p.m.

Sunday, December 23

This Sunday morning will be our Christmas Sunday worship service. Our music will revolve around the message of our Savior’s birth. The pastor’s sermon will cover a second “Christmas prophecy”: Isaiah 7:14; “The Son’s Birth”.

If you are in town this Sunday, I encourage you to come and worship with us.

“No man is ready to depart this world in peace who has not first seen Jesus!”

Pastor’s Postscripts

After spending time preparing for my brief message on the song of Simeon last night, I am considering revisiting that text next December. In fact, I may present 4 messages, one per week, on the “Christmas Hymns in Luke” to which I referred last evening: the Magnificat, the Benedictus, Gloria in Excelsis, and Nunc Dimittis. I’ll pray on the matter during the coming months and see if the Lord is truly leading me down that path.

Meanwhile, this Sunday, the Lord willing, I will preach the second of the three messages on “Christmas” prophecies in the Old Testament. This Sunday’s message is “A Christmas Prophecy: The Son’s Birth”. On December 30, my final message in this brief series will be “A Christmas Prophecy: The Son’s Birthright”.

Finally, remember our international missionaries in your prayers. Again I ask you to seek the Lord concerning giving to our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. There are two more Sundays to give to his worthy cause.

May our great Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, bless you as you daily ponder the miracle of His coming and the graciousness of His Heavenly Father in sending Him on our behalf!
