Monday Updates – October 8th, 2012

Good Morning Bethesda!

The Lord was with us yesterday!  Pam announced we reached our goal for the Missouri Mission Offering.  We kicked off Operation Christmas Child for this year.  The Spirit was obviously present in the singing and the preaching.  And Dennis began a new class Sunday evening which was quite informative and a lot of fun!

May the Lord continue to bless our church and our ministries!

From Yesterday . . .

“God has given two great gifts to His people—the first is, His Son for us, the second is, His Spirit to us.”
– Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Business Meeting

Our monthly business meeting is this Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.  One of the items we will vote on is a change to our bylaws.  This change will eliminate the “Newsletter Committee”.  A copy of the change is on the bulletin board in the foyer.

I encourage our members to be present this Wednesday!

Bethesda Men

Some of the men met this past Saturday and began our book study.  We spent a good hour sharing and studying with one another.

If you have an interest in participating in this study over the coming months, please let the pastor know so he can make certain we have enough books.

Our next meeting is November 3 at 8 a.m.   All the men are invited to join us then for breakfast followed by our book study.

“The summary of evangelical doctrine, then, is that we proclaim what sin and righteousness are, and that because of this doctrine we may expect the world’s judgment and condemnation.  Yet we take comfort from what Christ says here:  The prince of this world is already judged.  This doctrine about sin and righteousness we preach diligently, and as a result we endure the world’s judgment against us. ”

Church Bonfire

October’s fellowship will be our annual bonfire! The date is Saturday, October 20th and we’ll start at 7:00 PM! We need everyone to bring a few pieces of firewood, and also some bonfire snacks! S’mores fixins’, hotdogs, buns, hot cocoa, chips, soda, coffee, etc.

For the kiddos, we’ll have flashlights for games of tag, as well as light sticks! We hope you can make it!

Please see Karla Repperger if you have any other fun ideas for games!

Pastor’s Postscripts

If you were not able to attend the first session of “The Biggest Losers in the Bible” class last evening, you missed a blessing plus a lot of fun!  Session #2 (i.e., loser #2) is this Sunday evening at 5 p.m.  I encourage you to come out and join us.

We do have some business to discuss this Wednesday and need members there to help us decide what needs to be done.  Plus I forgot to pass out deacon election ballots yesterday and will do so on Wednesday instead!

I do pray the Lord blesses each of you in many ways this week.  See some of you this evening and everyone else on Wednesday.
